Thanks to You, Its Working

Do secularist really want to see Christianity removed from society entirely? Many people think so. (Secularism is to assert the right to be free from religious rule and teachings.) Perhaps they merely want Christianity changed to something more palatable to their taste. That seems more realistic. Even most atheist and agnostics, (secularists), know that if Christianity was suddenly gone, the effect would be profound. How so?

An example, when catastrophes occur, Christian groups like, Matthew 25 ministries, Operation Blessing of CBN, the Samaritan’s Purse, and scores of church groups rally to help victims long before government help arrives. Even people opposed to Christ will gladly receive the help, the prayers and well-wishes too.

Catholic and Protestants alike are responsible for inner-city help, feeding hungry and sheltering homeless. The volunteers needed, and the donations to keep them afloat, come from their members, for the most part. That is fine with secularists. It saves the government money, and non-religious donations can flow to other “charities” like the United Way, that handles “population control” with the greater portion of their donations. (you may chuckle here)

I don’t believe they really want Christianity removed to the history books. Some do, it is obvious. Richard Dawkins, author of the “God Delusion,” has been leading a campaign in Great Britain, Europe, and now the US, to de-baptize those who no longer believe as Christians.

These who want Christianity wiped out aren’t history buffs at all. Christianity, when its followers have been under persecution, has always grown exponentially. It is when all is well in the world, and no one opposes believers, watch out! They become complacent, and tend to blend in with society and non-religious lifestyles.

I say, keep up the good work. Keep attacking religious freedom and proving how intolerant “intelligent” can truly be. Insisting that religious pictures, or ten commandments be removed from public places, claiming it is offensive, will back-fire eventually. Those ten commandments are frightening. “Children may see them, and adhere to them, then what?”, one lawyer seeking their removal said.

I know that Christians today are hardly identifiable. Fewer stand for their beliefs. Mainly because they do not understand their own belief and its implications. This is not something you can blame on the secularists, the post-modernists, or amoral people. But if they persecute some more, in fact, if they heat up the opposition to Christ. We will all begin to see a revival of true discipleship grace this land.

We who follow Jesus, should not display our disdain for those opposing Him. Leave that to the radio talk-shows. If Christians do their part, and learn what Jesus is about, you can bet secularists will do theirs. Then we can truly say to all, “Thanks to You, It’s Working.”

Do you think they will succeed in changing Christianity to their liking?

Come and Get You Some

Americans have this insatiable desire for more. We want a home large enough for plenty of guests to visit, but no one does. We need an extra car in case the other car breaks, that seems sensible. The car we have may have a full warranty and rental car availability if a breakdown occur, yet, we keep the spare. We have boats, travel-all campers, and motorcycles, filling our driveway, trashing up the neighborhood. And our closets are full of clothing that we may never wear.

To want and to have things isn’t bad. We can have things or we can have nothing. In either case, we are never permanently happy because of things. However, we are still convinced that things bring happiness. So off we go to the stores, keeping the economy strong.

A New Store with More!
I would like to find a store that sold wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Or how about…an answer store! Awesome! What an idea! Each aisle would have categories like: Aisle 1: Family
Teenagers, Family Finances, Elderly Parents, Inheritance Tricks.
Aisle 2: Life Decisions
Jobs, Banks, Marriage, Divorce, Buying and selling
Aisle 3: Virtues and Reason
Hope, Joy, Love, Wisdom, Happiness, Intelligence (very popular)

Of course, since we make thousands of decisions, there would have to be an aisle in this store that covers everything in a snap, maybe called “Pat Answers.” That would be a great store name. All you have to do is walk into this store, grab the decision and…presto! It’s done, hours saved, worry free-living!

Real Value
Things are fun. Things bring temporary happiness. I have to admit, I enjoy things until the bills flow me-ward. I slowly develop understanding that I really didn’t need, I just wanted it. Hindsight brings an invaluable understanding. That makes future decisions much easier. We actually do have something similar to this store. But it isn’t named Pat Answers. It’s name is Life: Trial and Error.

The truth is that we have an answer book for every decision. The problem is that all of its treasure requires diligence and hunger to find. Not only that, it also lets all know that things are worthless, debt is enslaving, giving trumps getting. Inside this guide reveals wisdom, understanding, and the knowledge of the Holy is real treasure.
People won’t see it on you and admire it, you cannot drive it…it will drive you. Where it takes you in this life is far above material goods in value…and free.
Come and get you some.

“So my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” 1Cor.15:58

What We Choose to Believe

I happened on to the Science Channel as I surfed for something to watch while I read my email. Not to poke fun at the channel, but I can say, that is the stuff of comedy. Having grown up with “Mad Magazine” and parodies of that era, It has helped me see humor in many things others take serious. Please tell me that people don’t seriously believe this stuff…I mean, brilliant minds in 2013, cannot take this serious! Sponge Bob Squarepants is more believable. Before we spend another cent giving grants for research for biological evolution, please lay some real physical proof that it is even possible. If you cannot, then let’s send a team of marine biologists to search for Bikini Bottom and Atlantis with the grant money, it’s waste either way.

How did this “science” go from theory to fact? If science was so desperate to find a reason for our existence, other than a Creator, come up with physical proof and then teach that science as fact. Start with a moon rock or some kryptonite, something that exists. You have nothing because there is nothing. I can say that you learned well from Vladimir Lenin who said, “if you tell a lie often enough and long enough people will believe it.” (Hitler stole that saying from Lenin) Nearly every literate nation that allows this doctrine of man to be taught in schools have whole populations believing it. Often enough, long enough. Since we are like cattle, we basically say, “I’ll take your word for it,” too lazy or apathetic to research these ideas for ourselves.

What are the facts of man’s origin? What do you have for physical evidence to prove it? When I think of great minds refused tenure because they disagreed with this “science,” I am sure that you have such evidence. Otherwise, refusing good people with great minds would be a travesty, wouldn’t it?

To the followers of this “science,” think this, “religion.” That is what this particular science is. You take it by faith without proof which makes biological evolution a “faith.” I understand that so many brilliant minds have devoted their entire lives to this study only to end their life empty, without answers, but many more questions. Only pride keeps them from admission, as individuals. Fear, and loss of credibility keeps the false teaching alive…”what will we tell the people?…they will have our heads for this!” Not really, people will move on and forget the billions spent on the research that could have been used for useful things like food and clothing for the poor.

As ridiculous as this “science” is to me, to intelligencia, religion is just as ridiculous. “There is nothing on earth that points them to a physical proof of a Creator,” they think. Long before Darwin’s writings, documents were written, handed down from generation to generation, and carefully copied for preservation. These point to the explanation of man’s origin. Secularists have done everything they can do to discredit the possibility that these documents can be valid evidence of a Creator. They have long denied the Bible saying things like, “it’s like the children’s game telephone, by the time these stories go from generation to generation, the original meanings are scrambled without a possibility of accuracy.” Have those making such claims researched their own accusations? Highly doubtful. There is the fear that the may find out it is real, then what?

According to those opposed to the Bible’s accuracy, they claim there was no king David, or Solomon. The prophets were not the actual writers of the books named for them, etc. Yet another science, archaeology, has proven most of what they deny. David and Solomon were not folk-stories. They are not hung up as much on the creation as the miracles of the exodus from Egypt, and those of Elijah and Elisha. The resurrection of Jesus, closes the book for them, “these things could not have happened,” they say.
I understand, I empathize. It is okay, they are hard to accept.

We definitely have differences, nothing to cause this continuous mud-slinging to continue for another generation. It is a face-off. I cannot convince you, nor you me. I can, however, point to additional evidence you may never accept…changed lives. Biological evolution, nor any wisdom of man can change the heart of an alcoholic like me, to turn me from my addiction and its misery, and begin to really experience life with joy and purpose. It cannot give me meaning or peace when I grieve over loss. It definitely does not present me hope for my eternal existence, and the adventures beyond this life. Only Jesus can, my faith in Him, His creation of this universe, and the constant metamorphosis, conforming me into His image. That particular science does not give me a desire to help the broken like myself, helping them find their way out of trouble. These reasons, plus ten-thousand others, gives me proof of Him, and a reason to follow Him. He never changes, science always does. I’ll stick with what works.

Let me know if you agree or disagree.

Being Dad: Communication

It is hard for men to be open about themselves and about their deepest thoughts regarding life and living. Exposing one’s thoughts takes courage knowing you become open to criticism, and that strikes fear in a man’s heart. Being manly and tough means “keep your thoughts to yourself or be a girlish chump.” Nothing could be further from the truth. People who had a communicating father recall his strength of character, how they could tell their dad anything without hearing a lecture, followed by discipline. With a father that is closed minded toward a child’s hurts or hang-ups, the child hides their feelings, knowing relating them to him will bring scorn and ridicule, not love and understanding. The ability to communicate to their child is a quality to be desired as a father…and it is learned behavior.

How I have arrived at these conclusions about fathers has come through personal experience, careful observation, and above all, through truths like these:
“My child, listen when your father corrects you, don’t neglect your mothers instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace, and be a chain of honor around your neck.”
“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding.”
“My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store up my commands within your heart. If you do this, you will live many years and your life will be satisfying,” Prov. 1:8-9, 2:1-2, 3:1-2 NLT

When my daughter was in her most crucial time in her life, and needed her dad the most, my mind was closed completely. Her decisions were unguided by good counsel, but by an opinionated alcoholic, that was not mature enough to give G.O.D. to her. (good orderly direction) Fortunately, God had his hand on her life. In time, He worked things together for good, yet for a time, she struggled without dad’s help, all alone.

I have personally observed others my age that had an active father in their life. Many of these people were not religious, but had a religious manner of communicating to their children. The behavior of my peers with the active parents, was that of drugs and alcohol is taboo, pre-marital sex is wrong, and college is a must. Those whose parents were religious, most of these, not all, married, had children, and today are still together after all of these years. I had communicating parents, but didn’t listen. I was more set on rebellion, the price was costly, and I paid it.

Being a father is being a leader. Communicating with actions is nearly important as words. For a child to see their father bow his head in prayer, shed a tear in sorrow, belly laugh when something goes wrong, can have a heavy impression. Words themselves, reveal the heart of a father. For father to encourage his children by his honest evaluation, without belittlement, will steer the children in the right direction. Encouragement can only be effective with honesty.

To lie to a child by telling them they are better than other kids, to defend their wrong doing by making excuses, are destructive when the child discovers truth…if they ever do. This method is a lazy father’s teaching technics. Tearing a child down by comparing them to siblings or other kids their age is even worse.

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” Eph.6:4 NLT

Many young men are fathers way too early in life. Before they have any understanding on how to live themselves, let alone provide for a family, they have one. Society today dictates marriage isn’t necessary, commitment can come down the road. A child born into this world with parents having no direction can only cause a new generation of non-communicating, or dysfunctional families. Encourage those soon-to-be dads. Ask them pertinent questions about being dad. Don’t aggravate or discourage them with “you knew better” wisdom. They may have known better, being a dad requires understanding and teach-ability, not ridicule. If you feel you failed with fatherhood in the past, communicate that to the new fathers, and amend past errors.

Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

Disturbing Trends

I do not think it is important to live my life worrying about things that have little probability of happening. Nor do I want to have “conspiracy theories” bouncing around in my head, creating paranoia. As a follower of Christ, I hold to His teaching in the gospel of Matthew:
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matt.6:34 NLT
How do you argue with that logic? Of course, taking this verse in context, Jesus isn’t saying “sha-la-la-la-la, lets live for today,” He is saying don’t WORRY about tomorrow. You can have concern about your future, save for retirement, plan vacations, and so forth. He doesn’t say, “pay no attention to tomorrow.” Tomorrow looks very disturbing to me, and for very good reasons. But I know there is light in the darkness.

I have been reading certain articles, as well as a book I strongly suggest you read, “The Reason for God,” by Tim Keller, in which he addresses questions like, “why does God allow suffering in the world?” “How could a loving God send people to hell? ” Why isn’t Christianity more inclusive?” All of these are legitimate questions of the day we live in. The articles I find interesting are related to trying to convince our dominantly secular society’s young college age, to re-see Christianity, and the Bible, from documented proof. There also needs to be a demand the documented proof for secular theories, such as, biological evolution, and the origin of life they claim as fact. Keller’s book does a great job, explaining so many of secular society’s complaints against Jesus, and against the Bible.

So many of the objections people have are truly a result of viewing Christian’s “life attitudes and actions,” serving God in word only. Plus effectively convincing young minds through crafty educators, unproven philosophies of man’s supposed wisdom taught in our institutions of “higher learning.” The trend I find disturbing, is as we look at the spiritual dumbing down of the young in this nation, though the elimination of the very thought of a God who created this vast universe. There seems to be no resistance put up by the Christian community itself. They could teach that we get all of our cheeses from the man in the moon, without challenge. Why? Do we want our young to follow the teachings of Christ? Of course we do. So why aren’t we horrified that by the time most of college age young people, raised in Christian homes, leave their faith as they enter college or the work-force?

Tomorrow is important enough to start today, not in worry, but in sincerity, turning this disturbing trend of spiritual ignorance away from our youth. We can give them a strong foundation of belief. The reliance we place in the Sunday service to give the young-uns the whole counsel of God is wrong, totally wrong. Trending downward along with the dumbing down of the young is that the parents aren’t wiseing up. As a parent, what do you believe? Is the Bible really God’s Word to man? or is it just bunch of stories that aren’t relative for today? What is the Nicene creed, the Apostle’s creed? Who is Jesus really? Is He the son of God, for real? If you and I don’t know, how do we relate this to the children in an understanding way?

I know that I am really not answering these questions. My intent is to provoke thought. Working with young people in recovery, mainly from drug and alcohol addictions, as well as my own personal struggles, has caused me to want to know how “churched” people end up on skidrow, in prisons, or in the graveyard from these insane addictions. Furthermore, many of these struggling to recover, grew up in Christian homes, and know nearly nothing about their faith. They have no hope, thinking they just can’t live the “Christian life” that they know so little about. When challenged by secular thought, they have no answer. Nobody gave them solid evidence of their faith. Is this the future of your children? Is sports, fame, material goods more important than their life with Christ, their eternity?

Labor of Love

Labor and love do not seem to belong in the same sentence, do they. The things I love to do I really do not consider that to be work. I enjoy shopping bargains. I could spend hours looking through old movies trying to find that special one vague to my memory. Books, music, and even vintage magazines, like old National Geographic editions can occupy me for long periods. It isn’t easy to place the enthusiasm I feel for treasure hunting into my job. I am grateful for the ability to work, and very grateful for the weekly paycheck. But how can I consider loving a job?

Attitude toward anything in life can change our perspectives from monotony to thrill. I really enjoy working, preferably work I know how to perform. I am not a friend to the unfamiliar. I have found that no matter what the job may be, boredom can set in, complacency can follow, and complaining begins. So I have to go to the Source to get answers why something I once liked to do is now detestable.

“Workers obey your earthly employers in everything you do. Try to please them all  the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. Work willingly at whatever you do as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Col.3:22-23 NLT

That passage is a real passage for me. A passage from disliking my job to enjoying my work. I find that when I enjoy the work I do for the money I earn, that enjoyment is like a hallway leading to enjoyment in everything, or any volunteer work I attempt. My attitude becomes infected to do good in everything, enjoying difficulties knowing it pleases God. That continues into doing the unfamiliar that I do not want to think about doing, let alone loving it.

Working in recovery groups was unfamiliar to me at first. When I could see that this could help others, as a follower of Christ, I determined to get involved. I love being a help, or at least trying to be one. The first month or so of blogging, well, I liked doing it, but I kept tripping over myself. I was more concerned how I was viewed by others instead of whether the post may help them. Things change with our attitude and the purpose in whatever you and I do, do it to please God. He takes care of the results. Make your labor your love.

Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

Heavy Hands

I spend a few moments nearly every morning on Facebook, wishing Happy birthdays mainly, checking personal messages, etc. I always check out the news feed too. I notice quite a bit of gloom in many of the posts. I also look over my own blogs, noticing how many seem dark and reflect the misery of people wrapped in addictions. Turn on the morning news and you get slapped in the face with world and national sorrows, seldom do the networks share joy. Off we go about our day carrying the weight of the world. So when we get to our jobs, there is no smile, no encouragement to share with others that need a boost.

I have an exercise you may want to try. Clap three times, stretch your hands toward the ceiling. (This is not a magic formula like clicking your heels together three times, you’re not in Oz, you’re not Dorothy) Now, when you do this add these words, “for God is good, his mercy always endures!” Do this several times. If you don’t feel better…go see a physician.

Why carry the weight? Why be downcast and miserable?

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor…bind up the broken…proclaim liberty to the captives…release from darkness for the prisoners…to comfort all that mourn…provide for those who grieve in Zion…a crown of beauty instead of ashes…oil of gladness instead of mourning…and a GARMENT OF PRAISE, instead of a spirit of despair!” Is.63:1-3 NIV

“Wash your face every morning in praise.” Chas.H Spurgeon

“Come everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise! Ps.47:1 NLT

“Wherefore lift up the hands that hang down”…Heb 12:12 KJV

Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth!” Ps.66:1 AMP

Coming out from under the load of life struggles may require some strange activity on our part. One day I was at work and had the blues so bad, such a sense of oppression, that I felt I could not work. My partner and I were given a job that required me to ride the back of the rail cars, while he ran the locomotive ten cars away. I boarded the rear car and suddenly, through the heavy despair, I sensed to spend this alone time in praise of God for His omniscience, His omnipresence, His omnipotence. As we moved along and I worshipped in praise…the heaviness lifted, entirely! People may have thought me insane, talking to myself, but I didn’t care. God is worthy of praise no matter if I am in a crowd or alone.

Jehoshaphat sent the singers and praisers ahead of the army in a battle they could not win. (2 Chron.20) As they began to worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness…God sent angels to confuse the enemy, the enemy turned on each other, praise works.

Clap, sing, stretch your hands toward the heavens saying to God, help, Abba! Tell Him how great He is in your eyes. Like Jehoshaphat…He will roar out of Zion in your defense, He will strip the yoke of heaviness off of your shoulders!

NDP, Some Considerations

I  do not want to make this a long post of the history of the” NDP”, nor of it’s recent neglect and finger pointing with all of the recent, “can you believe that” accusations. I would like for you and me to give the “NDP” some thought as to its purpose, and how we should approach God in petition for this annual event. Oh, by the way, “NDP” is the “National Day of Prayer.” Don’t stop reading since you now know what that means. I will try to be brief.

Bill Hybels, pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, outside of Chicago, wrote a book called, “Too Busy NOT to Pray,” some twenty years ago. It is a very good book on the topic of prayer that I recommend for everyone I work with in recovery to read. The reason is for it’s simplicity and direction on how to pray, and what to pray. Bill uses a memorable formula in bringing our requests to God. A.C.T.S.

A- adoration. This is approaching God in praise of His, Omnipotence, Omniscience, and Omnipresence, as Lord God Almighty
C- confession. Asking for forgiveness for our personal sins and neglect, for selfish living, etc.
T- thanksgiving. Thanking God for all of His manifold blessings, and for answering us when we pray.
S- supplication. We then ask Him for our needs and requests.

Using this little formula does not make wishes come true. God is not a celestial Santa, a genie popping out of a bottle, or Bill Gates spreading out his wealth. No, He is our loving Father, desiring to grant us our requests as we ask in faith, and according to His will, which is His Word. I will not ask you to take my word on that, nor do I have the time to go through passages, giving Word-based prayer. (I am not being arrogant, I want to keep this readably short.)

The National Day of Prayer
Some things we should pray about as a body of believers and for our nation are:
1) Unity. We are a divided nation. Left and right, multicultural, evangelical and secularists, devout and post-modern in worship. In all of these separating titles, we have lost our way as a people. Our origins were intended to end tyranny, we have a government today that has become tyrannical, and think they know what is best for the people, which omits God and removes rights guaranteed by our constitution. Pray that God will draw our hearts as a people back to Him, loving each other regardless of our differences in belief, or in culture. We cannot expect the unbeliever to pray at all. If the believers pray for God to unite us as the body of Christ, and help us lay aside petty differences that have nothing to do with redemption, there will be unprecedented unity, and a harvest of those desiring to be in the light.

2) Repentance.
We have national sins. Not only our neglecting God, but continuance of humanistic thought in the family from not teaching our children biblical truth because we’re too busy, allowing their minds to be defiled by man’s wisdom. I know we have the constant fight to end abortion, to define the family, along with many laws we consider ungodly. However, if we do not teach our young foundational truths, giving them a platform to denounce these sins, the ungodly laws will stand. We need to repent for not teaching the young, and learning about what we say we believe ourselves.

3) Being Jesus.
We want to conform to the image of Christ, but hang on to personal prejudices. Pray that God helps us as followers of Jesus, to live lives of integrity and eliminate our dislikes and looking down our noses at those in darkness. Quit saying “hate the sin, love the sinner,” and start doing so. The drug addict, the prostitute, the greedy, gluttonous, atheist, the homosexual need Jesus…and so do you. We must stop looking down, look across at those  we think we are superior to.

I really tried to make this short, oops, didn’t work. There are many things we need to ask God to save us from. We are fallen. We want godly leaders, nice neighborhoods, beautiful cities. We want prosperity, good health, and plenty to eat. But we also want these things on our terms, excluding others. God forgive us. We want good jobs, but we want the foreigners removed, “they don’t belong here,” we say. We want marriage to be a man and a woman, yet we have a 50% divorce rate. We don’t know how to commit to anything, but we know what we hate, God forgive us, forgive our arrogance. Please consider these thoughts, pray today for the nation. Pray first for those you despise.

“In those days, Israel had no king, all of the people did WHAT SEEMED RIGHT IN THEIR OWN EYES.” Judges 21:25 NLT

The Famine, the Fire, the Answer

How long do we live by two opinions? Who do we really believe has the answers? I believe sincerely and entirely, that we have arrived at the crucial place in time as a nation, that Israel faced three thousand years ago. Elijah, a man of God and known also as the “prophet of fire,” had spoken the word from God that famine was coming to the land. Famine came for seven years, no rain. When the time for the famine to end, the prophet stood before Ahab the king and the people of Israel, and asked an important question we must ask ourselves. Our refusal to ask this important question is to say “we are happy with the denial we dwell in, nothing bad will happen, don’t take the Bible literally, Bill Maher said only a fool would do so.” Taking the Bible literally, or thinking it is not really God’s Word, but merely a old document with interesting stories, as our president believes.

Don’t think for a minute that you are in good company by disbelief. If you find out in the end that it is not only truth, but the way you were designed to live and the path to walk on, the consequences will have an eternal impact. The question Elijah asked was:
“How long will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God,follow Him, but if Baal is god, then follow him.”
Their response: “But the people were completely silent.” 1 Kings 18:21 NLT

To tell you what happened in case you do not read the whole story. He made the people a deal. We will build two altars, and place a sacrifice on both. Then we will pray, you to baal, me to God. The God that answers with sending fire down to consume their sacrifice, that is the God we will serve. The people agreed. There were 450 false prophets of baal, one man, Elijah, stood for God. He let them go first. From morning until evening they cried to their god to no avail, cutting themselves with knives to show their dedication so baal and the crowd could see. Then Elijah’s turn came, he had four pots of water poured on his sacrifice two times, until the water flowed into the trench below the altar. He said a simple prayer, the fire from God fell, ans consumed the sacrifice, the altar, even the water in the trench! Then the people fell on their faces, and said “The Lord, He is God!” Then Elijah had the false prophets seized, and he killed everyone of them.

“That’s cruel, he killed the prophets!” That is what the false prophets of our day say. They only see what scriptures say that reflectt the Lord, merciful, gracious, and kind, as an evil ogre that wreaks vengeance on mankind. They do not know the cruelty and evil done to the people by these false prophets. The evils are similar to the evils in our society removing God from the minds of the people, moving Him to the back of the bus.The men and women of our day, that have the courage to stand and say that we are judged as a nation for transgressions and social evils condoned by, even paid for by our government, are made out to be foolish, backwoodsy types. Their accusers pass themselves off as the intelligent, educated in truth, humanitarians. that refuse to pass judgment on evil, but condemn good. Laws are passed to protect the guilty, and punish the victims.

This is not a call to do what Elijah did to the prophets to be done to the humanists and secularist of the day. That is not my purpose. We should lay the challenge on the table, the questions asked back then, asked now; “how long will you, America, waver, hobbling between two opinions? Tell intelligencia, prove to us their gods exist, or remove them from our land, destroy the false teaching.

Give us absolute proof that your dating methods, namely carbon dating are 100% acurate, or declare it to be a religion that takes faith to believe. Give us absolute proof that man evolved from ape, that life began from a single cell, or call it a religion, get it out of our schools where you have said religion does not belong. Take a thousand year-old skull, and date it along side of those “neanderthal” skulls you find, and give the people proof of your truth, or admit theory, an “educated guess” is all you have. You can’t do that. But you, O intelligent ones, poison the minds of our youth decade after decade, from your bitter hatred of God. You have helped produce a spiritual famine in this land, in this world.

You and I that claim to be followers of Christ need to look around us, see the fruit of these false teachings. Immoral living, our people are consumed with self-service, loving pleasure, blind to addictions and the hopelessness of our generation. We like what we see on the modern prophets of baal’s TV talk shows, how we find their doctrines of acceptance and tolerance of evil behavior as good. They are blind guides that have lead us into a ditch. We have been set-up. You and I must make a decision to choose between the two opinions. Either God is God, or He is as they say, not the Creator and we do not have to follow biblical teachings as truth. If God is truly God, and we turn to Him in repentance for our self-seeking, sorrowful for accepting their teachings as truth, and questioning His moral law.  spiritual famine will end, the latter rain will fall and refresh us again. We can be the answer to the masses, by challenging them to prove their god’s existence.

Archaeologist continue to prove the validity of scripture, mostly those that the secular historians guaranteed didn’t happen. According to them, David’s kingdom, nor Solomon’s ever existed, now proven. Since they cannot deny Jesus was an actual person, they work very hard to disprove his resurrection by finding his true tomb, with bones and all. Save your time brilliant minds. Take it from this uneducated man, He is risen. The proof is in my heart, with the joy, peace, I did not know before I by faith, accepted Him as Savior and Lord for real. I hope every scientist and professor that have no hope but this life comes to the same reality, coming to Christ for the real answers.

About Midnight: Expect the Supernatural

I sometimes think how negative my posts are. You probably agree, writing constantly about addictions and/or related social problems and loss can drag one down emotionally. The intention is to bring readers to an awareness of the problem we see in society, and be active either by prayer or getting involved with some area of recovery. I realize it is hard for the individual when we work forty hours, have children to attend to, or perhaps involved in other areas of ministry or service. There is no need to feel guilty for your lack of involvement if you know you cannot. Do what you can where you are planted, and trust God will fill areas. Jesus told us to pray for God to send laborers into the harvest.

I too, become downcast at times. God knows, and always knows how to give me that pick-me-up needed. This morning, after having a major personal disappointment over the weekend, (by the way, this was my own presumption that led to this heartbreak), God did it again, rocking my pity-party with spiritual revelation from the Word. The story from Acts 16, where Paul and Silas were spreading the gospel, and a young girl with a familiar spirit kept following them, and apparently telling all these men were from God, in a mocking manner. Paul had enough, told the demon to leave the girl, and it departed. The men that sponsored her fortune telling lost their share of income. They took the two preachers to the courts, where they were beaten and chained and thrown into prison.

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundation. All of the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! Acts 16: 25-26 NLT

Here is the good news
We may be in the darkness of midnight in our society. Many are chained to addictions,  wrapped up in deep hurts from their pasts, tied up in bad relationships, bound by fears, and it seems things couldn’t be darker. And our lives are imprisoned in denial and codependency. But if you and I begin to pray, and sing praises to God every day, as we rise in the morning, throughout the day, before we lie down to sleep…the chains are going to fall off, and the prison we have built will be shaken to its foundation, and the doorss will swing open to freedom. Supernatural things are going to happen, as we focus on the One who set the captives free!

The miraculous
I have seen impossible situations myself and others have been in since I entered into recovery, suddenly reversed, as prayer was offered to God, expectantly, and taking Him for what He said He would do if we asked. I remember being so blue and downcast from things going on and looking at the mountain of problems instead of the problem solver, the One who makes mountains a flat plain with a word. When I turned and focused on Him, and gave Him praise for His ablility, and strength given to me in my weaknesses, thanking Him in gratitude for His goodness and mercy, love, and kindness…my blue feelings left immediately, and joy returned. Prayer, thanksgiving, and praise to God, to Abba, Adonai, Elohim…El Shaddai, the Triune, self-existent Almighty Father Who is more than enough, the One that a single name cannot describe, roars into my situation, and the enemies seige is broken and scattered! He does not like His kids bullied by the evil one, and like you would defend your children, He defends us but with the power that know no boundary.

Look for supernatural results in times of trouble, in hopeless situations, where all seems lost. Like Paul and Silas, He hears your petitions, He listens for your praise and thanksgiving, and He reacts for you! Thanks for reading, God bless and keep and defend, and free you and yours!
