Snitch

I never dreamed of being a rat when I lived the party life. That was death to friendships. It wasn’t only that people would isolate you permanently, it was that I would never be able to look at myself in the mirror again. No one wants anything to do with a tattle-tale. We alcoholics and addicts were a family, we had principles and standards.

Getting clean and sober caused me to change many things for me. Being a snitch wasn’t one of those changes. I was told early in recovery, “you only have to change one thing in recovery…everything!” Yet, that thought I struggled to keep, I could not sing to the law, no matter what, I won’t snitch!
Something I said to God each day in prayer was; “God I want to please you more than anything, show me what pleases you.” I also had this desire to devour the Word, the more I read it, the more I understood what pleased Him, and I became consumed by the Word.
This passage came to me as a moment of clarity, an epiphany, that changed my thoughts of keeping secrets for evil people bent on making money at the expense of the addicted and tormented. Also, watching those I knew personally die, and their families grieving, gave me the needed wake up call:
Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “surely we did not know this.” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Prov.24:11-12
The son, the daughter, friend, or spouse that lost their life to overdose, drunk driving, as well as those incarcerated for driving drunk and killing others, would have loved the person who “blew the whistle” on them, if they knew what would be. But they didn’t. They died, or are in jail. Their families are in ruin, little children lost a mommy, or a daddy. At least their close friends, like me, didn’t rat them out.
We let them kill themselves or others, and give little, or no thought of what became of their children. Maybe it would not have stopped them. Maybe they would still be around and the grief their families experience today would never have happened. And they may hate the one who snitched on them forever.
That’s okay. In recovery, we know the importance of doing the next right thing. Rescuing those set on dying, or trying to do so, is right. That old “honor among thieves” attitude is one of many deceptions of wickedness, ending in sorrow.
My desire to please God takes top place in my personal values. I will “drop a dime” on a drug dealer in a second, providing I know the facts. I am also full of righteous indignation toward what heroin, crack, meth, and booze is doing to our society. I have had enough funeral’s to attend that may have been avoided.
So don’t tell me if you deal dope, if you actively use it, or if you know of someone who does either. I don’t want you to die, or your family destroyed. I am determined not to look away, and face God knowing I did.

A Recipe for Spiritual Growth

The Seed
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance  and supplication for all the saints..” Eph.6:18
To grow spiritually, we need to pray. I have found this to be for me, the hardest spiritual exercise. It isn’t praying I find hard at all. What is difficult is to have a set time that belongs to me and “Abba,” free from distractions and interruptions. I have no problem praying as I go about my day. I may pray for my family, for social network request, for requests on the churches prayer chain, for those I work with, those I pass as I drive, those I work with in recovery, etc. It is my determination to spend time just talking with God in humility, on my knees, that I find hard to accomplish but necessary to grow into the stature of Christ.

The Fertilizer
“Every day will I bless You, and I will praise Your name forever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” Ps.145:2-3
I don’t want to come to God in prayer empty-handed. I want to hallow His name, praise His mercy and grace, His steadfast love, and constant watchful eyes to defend and protect me from danger and evil. The book of Psalms reveals so much of God’s character. If you are like me, to praise and worship God before asking for anything in prayer, gives me the scriptural understanding that I have His attention. He inhabits my praise…in other words, that’s His address.

Add Water
“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed in accordance to Your Word.” Ps.119:9
This is my bread…daily. I love the Word more than anything in life. If you want to know God better, or at all, grab a Bible and devour it. I often hear others say,” I don’t understand it, so I have no interest in it.” There are several new paraphrase versions, the Message, Good News, NLT, etc., that anyone mentally competent can understand. It is spiritual competence that is the problem, in truth.

Putting these together, prayer is like a seed, fertilized by our praise and adoration to God, watered by the living Truth of His Word. Though I find a set prayer time difficult, I find it much easier after I fertilize the soil of spirituality with praise, and realize the goodness and purity of the One I am addressing. Reading the Word creates the environment to praise and honor God, and like a cycle, prayer makes me grow in my understanding of the Word.

If you struggle with any of these, ask God in sincerity to open your spiritual understanding, He will. Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

Slavery You Own

The word slavery causes people to shutter as they think of people bound in chains, beaten, forced into labor. Anti-slavery activists have their hands full in these modern times with a reported 27 million people enslaved. As I read some of the details of this modern day evil; I realized slavery wasn’t a dark part of history, it is alive and well on planet Earth. Sadly, much of this slavery is within our own borders; in the inner-cities, young men and women kept against their will, held as prostitutes. How we need to pray for their liberation.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Martin Luther King, Jr

Friday night, the Celebrate Recovery meeting was a reminder to me how that slavery goes far beyond individuals being kept against their will. The 27 million is dwarfed in number when we consider the masses enslaved by their past hurts; abused from childhood, hung-up from being bullied and belittled, and those given to self-will, owning habits that are chains not easily broken. Many are the slave owners, self is enslaved to addictions that are destructive. In the final analysis, our ownership must be admitted, we cannot blame and point our finger at anyone for our remaining chained to any hurt, habit, or hang-up. Freedom is in sight the moment we find our way to recovery, by God’s grace. So why do so many stay in their personal slavery?

That question has many answers. Some aren’t ready to surrender because they have not experienced enough pain. Some have a fear that freedom is enslavement. Really? Yes, they feel they will never enjoy parties, lose old friends, have to live a morbid existence and follow rules…they find this boring. Others that struggle with depression, past abuse, work-a-holism, etc., are still in denial, “I drink everyday, but never get out of control,” they think. Some think because they have tried and failed over and over, it won’t ever work. these enjoy times of freedom, but like the dog returning to eat his own vomit, they return to their enslavement. Everyone, yes, everyone has something that binds them. We all need to be liberated. Do not think that worry, pride, gossip, and lying are not enslaving, or that you do not need help to be free of…they are just as deadly. These will kill you spiritually.

Of everything I mentioned above, there is another evil that transcends all of the others, and goes relatively unnoticed. It is the one thing we must be very wary of, once we have accepted truth, and now live in freedom; Selfishness. It is so easy to enjoy release from our bondage that we forget it is a gift that you and I must give. Complacency is the beginning of a whole new way of dying. Not sharing your freedom by giving that freedom away is terribly self-serving. Not wanting to, not feeling like it, too tired, are all mostly love of self deception, keeping you from the real joi de vivre, joy of life. We who have this wonderful gift from God, given from others, can stifle spiritual growth, and replace the chains of past addictions, hurts, habits, and hang-ups, to serve self, the worst of slave owners.

“The time is always right to do the right thing.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

We are liberators, emancipators, we have a gift to give. We may not be able to walk into the inner-city house of prostitution and demand the freedom of the enslaved. We may not be able to go into the third-world countries and tell them to let the slaves go free. We can pray. We can pray en-masse, and in agreement in Jesus name. We must, once free from our chains, free others, serve in some capacity even if it is praying continually. But do not put yourself back into slavery. Joy, peace, love, and freedom awaits you.

Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

The Hurting and the Hidden

I really had intended to lay off the blogs for a time, you know, I was kinda looking at how many hours I spend weekly on these posts, and if it were not for the stats I receive from my web host, I would think I’m talking to myself. Thanks again for those of you who read my blogs, I hope they are helpful to you. A new year has arrived and my intent is to work harder to serve more while staying balanced body, soul, and spirit. I’ll need God’s strength for that goal to be realized.
I went to the Hope House tonight and told my story to the men living there. The youngest of these was a young man of 18, struggling for hope, reaching his hearing for words of inspiration that may change the direction of his life. There were many others in the room and some listened intently, others were there to maybe just get out of their room. All of these bottomed out from a life of self-serving, or pushed to the bottom from their upbringing. That is a strange word, isn’t it. Down-casting may be a better way of describing the lives of some these dear men’s lives. Yeah, I know, they had a choice, they chose wrong, you didn’t, so it becomes easy to point out how their life went south.
My previous talk to a group was in a golf clubhouse in a neighborhood of which the low-end homes were probably a half a mil, easy. I sensed their sincerity and concern for the bottomed out and broken, and in that room as well, there was hurting and brokenness from addictions and co-dependency. The rich, the poor, and the in-between, problems seem insurmountable. All of us need help from our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. We must have direction, leadership, parenting by the godly to return to this country, or heaven help us.
“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Judges 25:21
Do you sense the hurting of the drug and alcohol addicted? the porn addict? the gambler? the co-dependent family and friends? It’s their choice, right? I wonder who has the greater addiction, the one using drugs, or the one passing the judgment so easily. I am disturbed in my spirit by my own insensitivity towards the judgmental crowd, their addiction to their opinions and personal haughtiness. And disturbed I should be…I’m in their number. It isn’t just the drug user or the alcoholic that do what is right in their own eyes. We all do, thinking we’re above reproach. Mercy, humility, concern…where are you?
Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

Breaking Dawn Near Midnight

The latest installment of “Breaking Dawn” comes out today surrounded by more hoopla than the previous episodes. This is to be the last of the series, which explains the hoopla. I have watched the previous segments and halfway through the last one I went outside to watch the grass grow, finding that much more interesting. Well, that’s just me, movies can hold my attention when they seem somewhat interesting. Of course, I am really not a sequel fan. Very few have beaten the original. I say Rambo 1, Rocky 1, were great movies. The Karate Kid 2, was better than 1, I thought. Don’t ever, please try to make a sequel of Cool Hand Luke like the attempt of Gone With the Wind. This generation of movie makers are lost without making a film without sex, foul language, and some absurd chase scene.

Our desire for the super-human has completely possessed our modern thinking. To live for centuries, amassing wealth and possessions, with only having to take blood for food is intriguing to people these days, especially if you are anorexic. Nevermind that vamps have always been evil murdering creatures in history, today they are  swell creatures you can get to know and have a personal relationship with. They can even grant you eternal life, but you have to die first. Does that sound remotely familiar to you? It is to me, another attempt to replace humanity in the place of God, the sacrifice of Christ, and our dying to self to live. There is something else to consider, because this post will be very unpopular to fans of the movie, (which I am not running down), and that is being aware of the times. The time we live in of sequels in motion pictures seems to be promising of a sequel never to be repeated.

In the first episode, the hero was treated badly, despised by leaders and even his own family. He went to the poor and downcast and gave them what he had. He taught them how to live, and how to serve each other. The ones that found him detestable finally got him, and though he could have gotten out of the dire strait he was in, he gave the ultimate service to mankind, and sacrificed himself to cover their obstinate rebellion. The news is that he didn’t stay dead, he rose from death. and left to return to his home and work on the sequel…his return. I believe, for those interested, it is due out any day now. The difference will be, the sequel will portray Him as He really is, King and Lord. Here’s a breakdown of how it went in part 1, and how He is portrayed in part 2:

PART ONE: The Coming of the Lamb
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death on the cross.” Phil.2:5-8

PART TWO: The Return of the King
“Therefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and those on the earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.

I watched the many people lining up for the movie, dyed black hair, tats everywhere, so excited about this flick that is created in someone’s mind, just a story, mere fiction. I saw their children in line with them talking about the movie and the previous parts as though it was all that mattered in life. The real show is coming, the star has eyes like flames of fire, His countenance is like lightning, and in the opening scene he roars out of Zion to gather His bride, those covered in His blood, that didn’t just stand in line for Him, or have His name tattooed on their arm, but they gave their hearts and will over to Him, and trusted Him that this day would come…I can hardly wait!

I would love to see everyone and their children in line for this event, but they aren’t, yet. I think it sad that the little ones know all there is to know about werewolves, vampires, and all that is evil, but their parents have no intent of teaching them about the King. As the day approaches for this sequel to arrive, we must let them know. I’m asking God to help me present Him to everyone around me, in word and deed. It isn’t dawn, it’s 11:55pm, midnight approaches…are you ready?

Thanks for reading, god bless and keep you all.

The Privilege of Prayer

The book of Hebrews in the New Testament has a passage that puts into perspective what Christ truly accomplished when He came and gave His life’s blood for all, and then rose from the dead. This may be considered a little extreme to the masses in other beliefs, and this is exclusive to Christianity in that the Creator God, would send a part of Himself, His only begotten to die for His creation, man, so that He could fellowship with man once again. That is how much God loved mankind. He even loves man enough to give Him the choice of serving Him, or rejecting Him.
This passage in Hebrews refers to the completed work of Christ. He came to earth, born of a virgin, so no one could say He was born in sin. He grew up like every man does, and faced every temptation like every man, so no one can say that He does not understand the temptation to sin. And in His perfect purity, without sin, without fault, He willingly paid for all of man’s sins. He took our place entirely, and when He rose, He ascended into the heavens and set down at the right hand of God where He makes intercession for all who follow Him. Here, at last the passage:
“Seeing then that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. LET US THEREFORE COME BOLDLY to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb.6: 14-16
Jesus restored us, who follow Him into the fellowship with God that Adam and Eve enjoyed in the garden before their fall. We can now talk to God everyday, all day, throughout our lives without Him saying, “you cannot come in here,” because we have the rights as sons daughters. We can ask Him for help, or for any need we have, or just hang around and talk to Him. Prayer is an act of faith, prayer changes things, prayer affects nations, prayer keeps people with addictions clean and sober, and we can open and close doors spiritually with prayer.
Many of us have the problem of entering into prayer. What do I say, how can I remember to pray, does God really listen, does He really answer? All of these questions are questions evryone has  in regard to prayer. The place we go find the answers to these type of questions is the Bible. I have put together a new ebook called, “How to Pray Constantly,” that may help a person that has a hard time with prayer. The book springs from my own struggle praying, even though I understand the concept of Biblical praying, there are many unseen attacks from behind enemy lines that interfere with my time with God.  Take a look at www.amazon.com/author/skeithbarnes if you’re struggling, this will help you.
I am more and more convinced that the times we live in now may well be the last days. So many of our friends and neighbors have addictions, and with constant bad news on the economic front, the job markets being down, the nation is in spiritual denial, and now worship science as God, running off every sign of Jesus from government property telling Him that He is not welcome there. So we watch education of our youth flushed down the drain of humanistic idealism, placing man on the throne as creator. The violence, the immorality, even wars and catastrophic storm systems sound the warnings of the end of days. We must pray! When we do pray, we need to pray with purpose and have faith for answers.
Give thought to this need we have to petition God for our confused nation, and the global problems. If you have children, elderly parents, and you are weighed down financially and spiritually, you need to be a person who prays daily for all of these needs. Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all.

Blessing For All

If you’re a sports fan, you often hear atheletes say “I’m blessed,” normally after they win. People talk about their children and use the word “blessed.” At the dinner table many call the prayer over their food the “blessing.” There are many uses of the word “bless.” The word is defined: to request of God the bestowal of divine favor on, to guard from evil, to make or pronounce as holy.
There was a time when the head of the family would pronounce blessing upon his children before his death. In Genesis 27, Isaac blesses Jacob before he passes, and his blessing over Jacob was for both he and his descendants. The same goes for Jacob as he passes. Genesis 48-49, Jacob blesses his 12 sons. If you read these blessings placed on the sons, the fathers of Israel’s 12 tribes and know of their history, you will not only see the importance of the patriarch’s blessing, but also see the fulfillment throughout scripture. Jacob, (Israel), blessed his 12 sons, and God stood behind his blessing to their fulfillment. Jacob bestowed divine favor on his children.
There are many examples throughout scriptures of blessings, and knowing this, it is very apparent that by blessing another, we bring divine favor on that person. We can and do bless, or curse our own children. We bless or curse our spouses, our employers, and friends by our words over them. Telling a child they won’t amount to anything if they don’t apply themselves may be true, but wrong in it’s presentation. Comparing one child to another is terribly wrong. Those things you’re saying to them is prophetic whether you believe it or not. Just think of the things your parents said to you, and tell me differently if you can.
We must say words of blessing and encouragement over our children, spouses, friends, co-workers, and really everyone we meet. By blessing our children, placing the favor of God on them, things will begin to change in their lives in dramatic fashion. So how do you bless them? What words do you say to bless others? Let’s look at Numbers 6:22-27
And the Lord spoke to Moses saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons saying, this is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace. So they shall put My Name on the children of Israel, and I WILL BLESS THEM.
You may have heard these words at church or at your synagogue quite often, and they may have lost or have no meaning to you. But think on these words in the passage. God said that when this blessing is pronounced over the people, His Name is placed upon the people. The Eternal Self-Existing Creator of everything created, stands behind these words.
His name encompasses everything needed for a person to live a life of blessing.  And the scriptures are full of examples of blessings to others, even to bless God, set Him apart as holy in our lives. My purpose in this blog is that we learn to bless others, not curse them by wishing evil to happen to them. Don’t even think those thoughts of “I hope they get what they deserve.” You may get what you deserve with those thoughts. No, let’s think good toward others, let’s place blessings on others.
Let’s go to our churches and recovery meetings to be a blessing instead of going to get a blessing. And bless each other, our homes, our families, even strangers we meet everyday. God bless and keep you. God grant you the prayers you ask of Him. May God prosper you, and keep you in health.

Laws, Freedoms, and Change

I was very frustrated, actually enraged by a recent event, where an Ohio law placed me in a very difficult place. I made a statement on Facebook, which I truly believe is factual, and I emailed the governor’s website, looking for someone to hear my plea. And when I finished my rage…I remembered the Lord my God, and strengthened myself in Him. The advice I give to others, run to God when you get into trouble, don’t run from Him, was the last place I visited.

I took my own advice and looked to Him for help. I will not give you the details of what happened just yet. I can tell you that ever since I finished my upcoming book, there has been such spiritual opposition, such heavy evil opposition, that I could not have continued if God had not given me the grace to do so. I thank Him for bringing me to this point, for all He has done, and for what I see Him doing now.

I haven’t changed my thoughts regarding lost freedoms in this country. Nor do I feel that our voices should be silenced, and we become pacifists in relation to the evils of political actions that cause “we the people” to lose sight of what so many have given their lives for. No, we should, or I should, be more intent on seeing this country restored to our inherent belief, that in God we trust. I’m looking for restoration, not change. Those desiring change may not realize we are a divided people, they want all to change to their way of thinking, sorry, and please return to earth immediately, we need you here. I want to see us restored to having the ability to pursue life, liberty, and happiness…you know, like the Constitution says.

This recent event taught me that as a follower of Christ, I am to be in subjection to the law of the land. I am to be a man with integrity, loyalty, and honesty. I feel I hold to these doctrines of liberty, to a point. I do feel that laws that cause a believer to compromise truth, are to be questioned and challenged. In the book of Acts, the religious leaders had ordered the followers of Jesus, to stop preaching this gospel. Peter responded, We must obey God rather than men! Acts 5:29 (NIV) It is only of recent years that our government has stretched and twisted the law to where our tax dollars go to programs that are unjust, and unholy, and destructive to this nation. This was true in Peter’s time as well and they could not adhere to them all, like worshipping Caesar. Paul wrote these words:

Remind the people to be subject to the leaders and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, an to show  true humility toward all men. Titus 3:1 (NIV)

This is how we are to present Christ to everybody, not shoot abortion drs, not to spew hatred at gays, not to condemn hookers, drug addicts/alcoholics, not to seek the demise of misled people-even politicians, but rather to give the grace shown to us through Christ, to them. God is the judge, He will reward us all by our works in this life. If you are a follower of Christ, take the time to read Paul, John, Peter, James, writings, on how we should conduct our lives. Then do it. Getting results to bring real change for me is in my surrendering my will to God’s will. If I am surrendered, I don’t need to fight, God does that for me. I can re-focus, re-center, and re-fuel on what He has promised as I conform to His will. The results He gets for me are far greater that my results from anger, complaining, and trying to convince others of my correct line of thought. In this recent experience, when I surrendered, strengthened myself in what He is able to do, peace followed. I placed Him in charge.

This morning, I surrendered again to Him, and went to face the giant. I went knowing He is Lord, He is with me, and I mentally blessed everyone I would meet before I met them. I have His favor. The results were completely wonderful, for everyone. I believe that their contact with me this morning changed their entire day for the good. Not because of who I am…because of whose I am. I am not saying that the lesson will never be repeated and I will have no more problems. I did learn to get results to manifest in my life, I have to go through the proper channels. First to God in the spiritual realm, and present the situation to Him, then as I do what’s necessary in the physical realm, He has prepared my way.

Thanks for reading everyone,God bless and keep you all. Keith

Days Ahead

Finishing up what I was talking about in my last post, are these the last days? I’m sure you know that I don’t know. I do know that Jesus informed His disciples what to look for, so we take those recorded words, look at the signs, and read the times. It is sort of a headline news story for future events.
Jesus, in Luke 21, is saying that when the fig tree begins to bud, you know that summer is near. This is the way we see the end times based on prophetic scripture. I do know, and I’m sure you’re aware, that there are many different sects that have various versions of the way we end, that is of no major importance itself. The signs pointing to that event are important. Wars, catastrophies, signs from outer space, pestilence, and famines, all of these happenings back-to-back with regularity.
These things, from a secular standpoint, are just recurring events throughout history, no big deal. But the other part of end time Christ’s prophetic words, are the litmus test of the winding down of days. These are some of His words:
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be weighed down with carousing, drunkeness, and the cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.” Luke 21:34-35
These words do not give us the awareness of end-times within themselves, these are the warnings to the believer that is waiting for their redemption, but life’s cares, pleasures, busyness takes their minds off of what they should look for, regarding the end. Now combine all of prophetic passages, catastrophic events, and warnings of our conduct as followers of Christ, with the nature of people in 2 Tim 3, (my last post), you can see these are pointing toward the Day of days.
You will not see this at all with your physical eyes, or grasp with your carnal mind. These facts are spiritually discerned, by those alive in Christ, with the Holy Presence living within their hearts. In my last post I asked what you thought, whether or not these were the end of days, your opinion. Out of over a hundred and twenty people reading, there was one comment.
I read dozens of blogs on various subjects, and always see many comments on most posts. My posts, however, I normally do not get many comments, and few likes, because I don’t ask and I know people really like to read without the hassle of commenting, or even clicking the “like” button. I do wonder, are people really disconcerned about the times and possible end? Perhaps. My one comment, from my friend Robyn, she comments, “how can you look around and see what’s happening in the world and not wonder, how much longer Lord?”  Precisely.
Complacency, disbelief, apathy, and disinterest in the spiritual, seems to be the place we are as a community of believers and nation of people. That is not because you didn’t comment…not at all. It is the fact that in conversation, the attitude from most is, it is what it is. The people seem to really care only who is elected, how their pay and benefits are affected, and what will I get.
I believe that we should do at least two things regarding this topic. One, pray. Ask God to awaken you spiritually, and open your mind to how you can be ready, actively watching for His return. Two, read. Take a little time to review prophetic passages, mainly, Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, etc, as well as Jesus’ words, Paul’s, and Peter, in the New Testament. Don’t forget, Jesus said He was coming for those watching for Him.
Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all. Keith

Days Past

America has changed in the past fifty years, I almost do not recognize her. She stood tall among the nations, took in the tired, the poor, the down-trodden. The nations surrounding us, allies, and foes alike, were jealous of the freedoms and prosperity American citizens enjoyed. Everyone living inside her borders seemed to have a courtesy, a kind word, and as you drive through a community, your arm would get tired waving hello as you passed. We were one. Neighbors knew each other by name. Attendants at the fuel station were courteous, we trusted in God and loved our country.
No more. We are divided. We had problems back then too. Many of the problems we have today, but then we helped each other. Then, when a crime was committed, there was punishment. Then, there were few frivolous law suits, and when there was, people thought the suers were pretty evil people to try to get something for nothing. No delusions here. There were child-molesters, racketeering, mobs, gangs, good cops, bad cops, prostitution, drug dealers, thieves and murderers. But today, we have all of that, and much more.
We have division today. We have people who intend to drive us further apart. We have dumbed down this entire society, drunken with pleasure and self-service, willing to place principles into the dung heap and sell ourselves out for things that quickly fade from importance. There is a free lunch from the government everyone!  Seems to be the message of hope people want to hear. No personal pride, no values or standards of conduct, no God to answer to. Yes, we removed deity from the the place of prominence, beginning at home…then to the schools, public places, and coming soon to your places of worship, if they have their way.
The great society that began in the early 60’s, was the initial steps in the families destruction, the need to help a neighbor, and the start of over-crowding prisons, and progressive education. Today, our education system has taken this countries rankings from the top ten to the upper twenties. Illegitimacy rates are off the charts. Heroin, cocaine, meth, you name the drug, is on every corner in urban areas, and reached into small communtities. Alcoholism is now a major worry among adolescents.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times shall come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of PLEASURES more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Tim.3:1-5

Kicked out of schools, homes, government buildings, and churches, Why wouldn’t He say, times up? We can follow the advice in 2 Chron, and repent, really repent, starting at home, then our church. God will finish when He chooses. Are you prepared? Do you think now is the time? Comment if so. I will have more, next time, adding some of your thoughts if you’re brave enough to do so.
Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all. Keith
