Heavy Hands

I spend a few moments nearly every morning on Facebook, wishing Happy birthdays mainly, checking personal messages, etc. I always check out the news feed too. I notice quite a bit of gloom in many of the posts. I also look over my own blogs, noticing how many seem dark and reflect the misery of people wrapped in addictions. Turn on the morning news and you get slapped in the face with world and national sorrows, seldom do the networks share joy. Off we go about our day carrying the weight of the world. So when we get to our jobs, there is no smile, no encouragement to share with others that need a boost.

I have an exercise you may want to try. Clap three times, stretch your hands toward the ceiling. (This is not a magic formula like clicking your heels together three times, you’re not in Oz, you’re not Dorothy) Now, when you do this add these words, “for God is good, his mercy always endures!” Do this several times. If you don’t feel better…go see a physician.

Why carry the weight? Why be downcast and miserable?

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor…bind up the broken…proclaim liberty to the captives…release from darkness for the prisoners…to comfort all that mourn…provide for those who grieve in Zion…a crown of beauty instead of ashes…oil of gladness instead of mourning…and a GARMENT OF PRAISE, instead of a spirit of despair!” Is.63:1-3 NIV

“Wash your face every morning in praise.” Chas.H Spurgeon

“Come everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise! Ps.47:1 NLT

“Wherefore lift up the hands that hang down”…Heb 12:12 KJV

Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth!” Ps.66:1 AMP

Coming out from under the load of life struggles may require some strange activity on our part. One day I was at work and had the blues so bad, such a sense of oppression, that I felt I could not work. My partner and I were given a job that required me to ride the back of the rail cars, while he ran the locomotive ten cars away. I boarded the rear car and suddenly, through the heavy despair, I sensed to spend this alone time in praise of God for His omniscience, His omnipresence, His omnipotence. As we moved along and I worshipped in praise…the heaviness lifted, entirely! People may have thought me insane, talking to myself, but I didn’t care. God is worthy of praise no matter if I am in a crowd or alone.

Jehoshaphat sent the singers and praisers ahead of the army in a battle they could not win. (2 Chron.20) As they began to worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness…God sent angels to confuse the enemy, the enemy turned on each other, praise works.

Clap, sing, stretch your hands toward the heavens saying to God, help, Abba! Tell Him how great He is in your eyes. Like Jehoshaphat…He will roar out of Zion in your defense, He will strip the yoke of heaviness off of your shoulders!

Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all!

Don’t Allow the Rocks to Do Your Job

I’m not going to relate the story of Job from the Bible, hopefully you are aware of it already. After he lost all of his children and  everything he owned, instead of pointing an accusing finger to heaven and asking, “why have you done this to me God!”, he did the opposite. He tore his garments in grief, fell to the ground, and WORSHIPPED. When he later had oozing, painful boils on his body from head to toe, and his wife said to him, “curse God and die,” Job said, “though He kills me, I will still trust him!” Could you do the same?
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen, no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Hab.3:16-18
Jehoshaphat king of Judah, was told of invading armies from three countries, coming to wipe Judah off the earth. Jehoshaphat assemble the people, and made this statement to God in prayer: …”we do not know what to do; but our eyes are upon You!”
The God spoke to the people through a prophet and said:
Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. The battle is not yours but Gods.” 2Chron.20 (read this entire chapter, it has more spiritual principle than any chapter in the OT…my humble opinion.)
The battle was ready to begin, and Jehoshaphat placed who in the front line? his best men? himself? No, he placed the singers and the worshipers ahead of the army. They began to praise God in the splendor of His holiness…and God sent ambushments against the invaders, they thought they were being betrayed by each other, and they killed each other!
“Let all who take refuge in you be glad, let them sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous, You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.” Ps.5:11-12
As Jesus entered into Jerusalem, the people were praising Him, throwing palm branches before the small donkey he rode. The religious people said, “make these people stop giving you praise!” Jesus said: “I tell you…if they keep quiet, THE STONES will cry out.”  Luke 19:40 (Not the ones from England that roll) If the people who love God refuse to honor Him in praise, the rocks will. God will be praised!
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.” Ps.8:1
“I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” Ps.18:1
“Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord glory due His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.” Ps.29:1-2
No matter what you may be going through today, what has happened in your past, make praise a priority in your life. Things may be going downhill fast, nothing to eat, no money for gas, or you may have a child on dope, no matter what is going bad in your life right now, begin to do as Job, and king Jehoshaphat did, praise the Lord, sing praises, psalms, make up a new song! God will do battle for you against your opposition, and give you favor.
When you praise Him, it is like a child crawling up on their daddies lap and saying, I love you daddy, you are the best daddy in the world! What would you do for your child if they did that in sincerity? Abba means daddy. Lift your hands to him in surrender as a child and say, “Abba, pick me up, I need Your help!” and He will. Don’t allow the rocks to do your job.
“Wash your face every morning with praise.” Charles H. Spurgeon

The Heart of the King pt.2

After doing part one of this post, I sat down and seriously read what I had written. I’m convinced it probably never came close to the outcome I expected. So this will be more poignant and hopefully short.

In part one I made an attempt to look at how this countries elected leaders had led us to the point of godlessness because that is how they were educated. Removal of prayer from our schools because of the phrase “separation of church and state” has preeminence over any church based programs in government-owned centers. The current leadership has no concern that “we the people” are the owners of government property, and they are our servants, not lords. The majority wants this nation to be recognized as a “Christian nation,” but the government seated has decided they know better, and we have to play by their rules.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water, he turns it wherever He wishes.” Prov.21:1

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Prov.14:34

If we truly believe these passages, and we have determined in our hearts to please God, we will vote prayerfully. What I want to convey to anyone who reads this is that if we vote for men and women who promise us present help and disregard the future generations, we are making a mistake. If we know a candidate is standing for things that displease God, but we put them in office anyway, don’t we share with their sin? Not only that, we also should know by common sense, that these candidates making us promises have the goal of getting into office by whatever means, saying what it takes to get themselves elected. They can have all of the best intentions, and truly desire to make this country a better place but they know their speeches are designed to move people to select them, and that means many of them lie to get in.

When I read through part one, I felt uncomfortable with what I had written. I feel that I was trying to convince the reader what I believe, that to ignore history is to repeat historical mistakes. This is basic truth that you and I already know. You do not need my endless rambling to inform you that electing ungodly leaders make for an ungodly nation. So I will appeal to your conscious and ask you to pray for God to lead you in your voting. This is serious. This vote upcoming is vital to our future here in America. The candidates are poised to forever remove or restore the hopes for all by imposing their will on us. If we truly trust God will direct the king (president) then we must seat the leader who is not obstinate, and disregards Him.

Jehoshaphat was a king in Judah that trusted in God. One day he was informed that several nations were coming against his kingdom, he took action. He feared at first, then gathered the people together to Jerusalem. They fasted and called on God. God sent word to the king, that they would not have to lift a finger in battle against these enemies, He was going to take care of this. The day of battle came. Jehoshaphat did the only normal thing, completely rational…he placed worshippers on the front line, ahead of his army. As the revival service began for Judah, and they began to worship the Lord their God, mighty in battle, perfect in His Holiness, God took action and the enemy turned on each other, utterly destroying themselves. (Read 2 Chron.20)

My appeal to those who believe in God, that follow Jesus, is to do likewise. WE are at war. The opposition has the heavy artillery. They have the media, the school systems, higher education, but even greater, they have captured the minds of the people, especially the leaders. The truth is, our battle is not physical, but spiritual. We fight with weapons they cannot compete with, and these weapons are mighty. Hear me, if you believe, prayerfully vote, but before that, begin to worship the Lord. Worship Him, exalt his holiness, His power, His wisdom, mercy, love for all. He will go ahead of us, He will subdue our enemies entirely. Determine in your hearts that you want what God wants, that you want leadership that is good for all including future generations, and delight yourself in God…He will give us the leaders we desire.

My name is Keith, and I approve this message. God bless and keep you all!
